Spring Furnace Maintenance Tips

April 14, 2016

spring furnace maintenanceAlthough fall is the season most homeowners will have their furnace serviced, spring is the time to take preventative measures. Spring is the time to make sure your furnace is in good condition to prepare it for fall and summer. While servicing your furnace, this is a great time to check that your air conditioner is ready for summer.

Constant use on your heater or air conditioner will result in wear and tear on all of its moving parts. Running your HVAC system frequently without proper maintenance will shorten its lifetime significantly. Routine maintenance is important for the overall health of your heating and air system. You should have 2 HVAC tune-ups annually; once in the fall prior to any furnace use and once in the spring before you use your air conditioning.

Tips for your spring maintenance routine.

    1. Check your air filter.

It’s important to check your air filter often to make sure it is clear of debris and the air can flow freely. If the air is having a hard time going through the filter or it’s visibly clogged then you should change it out.

    1. Pressure wash the outside.

Wash the outside of your condenser or heat pump. Spring is the best time to do this because you’re less likely to deal with extreme cold or hot weather. This is an easy way to remove all the buildup that has accumulated over winter.

    1. Have your system inspected by a professional.

Call out a professional to inspect your system to make sure everything is working properly. This is something that should be done at least once a year.

These three basic maintenance tips will help ease the wear and tear on your HVAC system. Not only do these help with the lifespan of your system but can increase energy efficiency. For questions or to schedule an appointment call Superior Water & Air at 801-438-4910 or visit us online.
